China-Origin Inbound Readiness Index

A 3PL may advertise “global logistics” without proving that its receiving operation is ready for China-origin FCL/LCL, port drayage, pallet/carton intake and marketplace fulfillment. This index separates those claims instead of treating them as interchangeable.

Research summary

103PL operators in this preview
2of 10Name China-origin clients or freight
3of 10Document customs coordination
7of 10Document port routing or drayage

Evidence-completeness score only. A higher score means more parts of the inbound chain are documented in public primary sources. It does not mean the provider is cheaper, faster or better. Use the index to build a shortlist, then obtain written receiving instructions before the China shipment leaves origin.

Key findings

  • 5 of 10 operators publish origin wording stronger than generic “international” — 2 China explicit, 1 Asia explicit, 2 overseas explicit.
  • 5 of 10 describe international inbound without naming an origin region, so they are recorded as origin not specified rather than China-ready.
  • 10 of 10 document FCL/LCL or container intake; 10 of 10 document pallet or carton receiving.
  • 7 of 10 document port routing or drayage, and 3 of 10 document customs coordination.
  • 10 of 10 document downstream fulfillment or FBA prep, which is the handoff that decides whether inbound stock is saleable.
  • Evidence scores run from 4 to 8 out of 8 across this preview.

Methodology & limitations

We do not award China-origin status because a provider uses the words “international,” “freight forwarding” or “global.” The origin-evidence field records the strongest wording we could actually find: China explicit, Asia explicit, overseas explicit, or international with no origin specified.

The score is deliberately simple and auditable: two points for explicit China/Asia origin evidence; two for FCL/LCL or container intake; one for pallet/carton receiving; one for port routing/drayage; one for customs coordination; and one for downstream fulfillment/FBA prep. “Overseas” without China/Asia receives one origin point; generic international wording receives zero origin points.

Evidence discipline: origin wording stays literal, warehouse receiving is not customs brokerage, partner-arranged transport is labelled as such, and unknown capabilities remain unknown rather than being inferred. A multi-region operator is recorded once, not once per facility, so a confirmed capability is never generalised to a site that does not publish it.

The receiving handoff still needs a shipment-specific check. Importer of record, customs entry, container availability, chassis/drayage, receiving appointment, floor-load condition, pallet standard, carton count and onward FBA/WFS routing can vary by shipment and provider. Because public documentation changes, the score is a research aid — not a permanent badge.
