US 3PL Receiving & Container Handling Index

A facility-level evidence preview for the inbound operations that determine whether a 3PL can actually receive imported inventory: container unloading, pallet and carton receiving, transload, cross-dock and drayage.

Evidence index, not a ranking. This table compares public capability evidence, not service quality, capacity, price or suitability for a specific shipment. Confirm live dock rules, appointments and fees before dispatch.

What this index answers

A standard provider directory may say “warehousing” or “fulfillment,” but that does not tell an importer whether the dock accepts a floor-loaded ocean container, whether loose cartons can be counted, whether pallets can be rebuilt, or whether freight can move through without storage. This index keeps those operating claims separate.

Why this matters for China-origin freight

For DDP Atlas and FBA Prep Ship, the warehouse handoff is where international freight becomes domestic inventory. A quote is incomplete until the receiving method, unloading scope, pallet/carton condition, appointment process and onward handling are confirmed.

Methodology

  1. Start with published providers in the FBA Prep Ship / PrepScope research universe.
  2. Open the operator-controlled facility, service, pricing or FAQ page.
  3. Mark each capability independently; never let one confirmed service imply another.
  4. Use “partner / arranged” when the provider says it brokers or arranges the transport rather than performing it directly.
  5. Keep missing evidence as “not publicly confirmed” and re-check it in the next research cycle.
