Evidence definition

What counts as Walmart WFS prep evidence?

Four kinds of claim are accepted, and each one is recorded per assertion rather than as a badge on the whole company. A generic “Walmart Marketplace” or “e-commerce fulfillment” sentence is not enough to qualify.

  • WFS prep service

The operator explicitly states that it prepares inventory for Walmart Fulfillment Services, such as labeling, polybagging, packaging, bundling or shipment preparation.

  • WFS shipment creation

The provider documents creating or coordinating WFS inbound shipments, shipment plans or Walmart Seller Center workflows.

  • WFS inbound support

The operator documents preparing or forwarding cartons, pallets or freight into Walmart fulfillment facilities.

  • WFS seller support

The provider explicitly identifies Walmart WFS sellers as a supported customer segment. Generic Walmart Marketplace fulfillment alone does not qualify.

  • Facility-specific vs operator-level

A provider-wide WFS relationship does not prove that every warehouse in its network is WFS-capable. FBA Prep Ship stores the scope separately and never generalises the claim.

Walmart official reference

Why use a prep center if Walmart offers WFS Prep Services?

Walmart Fulfillment Services offers optional Prep Services for selected inbound tasks. A third-party prep center can still be useful when inventory needs inspection, bundling, relabeling, multi-supplier consolidation, storage, palletization or shipment coordination before it reaches Walmart.

  • Item labelingWalmart lists planned item labeling at $0.45 per unit in the source version reviewed Nov 4, 2026.
  • Poly baggingWalmart lists planned poly bagging at $0.60 per unit in the same source version.
  • Unplanned prepWalmart charges a higher fee when inventory arrives needing corrective prep.
  • BundlingWFS Prep Services do not bundle multiple individual units listed as a set; those units must be bundled before shipment.

Before dispatch

What to confirm before sending inventory to a WFS prep center

  1. Exact receiving facility. Confirm which warehouse will receive your inventory before dispatch.
  2. WFS shipment creation. Confirm whether the provider creates the WFS shipment or only performs physical prep.
  3. Seller Center permissions. Confirm the access method, permissions and who remains responsible for account settings.
  4. Unit preparation. Confirm item labels, polybags, protective packaging, bundles or multipacks required for your SKUs.
  5. Carton and pallet rules. Confirm carton dimensions, weights, labels, pallet configuration and outbound carrier method.
  6. Turnaround and storage. Confirm receiving SLA, prep SLA, reserve storage, minimums and peak-season terms.
  7. China-origin handoff. Confirm customs-cleared receiving, international freight acceptance, drayage and importer-of-record responsibility separately.
  8. Commercial terms. Request written pricing and confirm what is included, excluded and subject to minimum charges.

China-origin inventory

Walmart WFS prep centers for China-origin inventory

Many Walmart sellers source outside the United States and position inventory in USA warehouses before sending it into WFS. WFS prep capability does not automatically prove that a provider can receive China-origin FCL/LCL, unload containers or handle customs responsibilities. These are evaluated as separate facts:

  • WFS prep capabilityA separate reviewed marketplace claim on this page.
  • China-origin acceptanceSeparate facility or provider evidence.
  • Carton receivingSeparate facility assertion.
  • Pallet receivingSeparate facility assertion.
  • FCL / container receivingSeparate facility assertion.
  • Container unloadingSeparate facility assertion.
  • DrayageNot recorded unless the operator states it.
  • Customs coordinationNot recorded unless the operator states it.
  • Importer of recordNot recorded unless the operator states it.

Where a fact is not published, this page shows Not publicly confirmed rather than inferring it from a neighbouring capability. Inbound modes on a provider are recorded per facility with their own evidence status.

Official inbound context

Walmart also operates a Cross Border Imports option

Walmart Cross Border: Imports offers eligible sellers FCL and LCL transportation from selected Asian ports to Walmart fulfillment centers in the United States. Walmart currently lists China origins including Ningbo, Qingdao, Shanghai, Tianjin, Xiamen and Yantian.

  • Separate from third-party WFS prep

Walmart Cross Border is its own inbound program. A provider listed on this page is not presented as part of Walmart Cross Border unless a source explicitly says so.

  • China-origin capability stays separate

A WFS prep claim does not establish customs brokerage, importer-of-record service, drayage or container handling. Those remain separate evidence fields.

Method

How FBA Prep Ship verifies Walmart WFS provider claims

Every claim is a row with its own source, scope, review date and limitation. A provider is listed only when the assertion is current, approved, reviewed or verified, and explicitly describes WFS prep, WFS shipment workflow or WFS seller support.

  • Assertion, not badge

The claim type, evidence scope, source class, source URL, source date, review date, verification state and limitation are stored together. Any one of them missing keeps the claim out of the list.

  • Scope is enforced in code

A claim scoped to the operator cannot be attached to a facility, and a facility-scoped claim must name the facility. The rule is rejected on write, so it cannot drift later.

  • Review windows expire

Integration claims carry a 180-day window and fulfillment claims 120 days. When the window lapses the claim stops qualifying for this page before anyone edits it.

  • Leads are not evidence

Directories and discovery leads can be recorded internally but can never be approved as the sole basis of a published claim. They have to be replaced by a primary source first.

FAQ

Walmart WFS prep questions sellers ask first

What is a Walmart WFS prep center?

A Walmart WFS prep center is a third-party warehouse or logistics provider that prepares seller inventory before it is sent to Walmart Fulfillment Services. Services can include receiving, inspection, labeling, polybagging, bundling, shipment creation, carton preparation and freight coordination.

Does Walmart offer its own prep services?

Yes. Walmart Fulfillment Services offers optional Prep Services for certain inbound tasks, including item labeling and poly bagging. Third-party prep centers may still be useful when inventory needs additional inspection, bundling, consolidation, storage or shipment coordination before it reaches Walmart.

Is every Walmart 3PL a WFS prep center?

No. A provider may support Walmart Marketplace or seller-fulfilled Walmart orders without preparing inventory for Walmart Fulfillment Services. This page requires WFS-specific evidence.

Can a WFS prep center create Walmart shipments?

Some providers document shipment creation or Walmart Seller Center support, but this is not universal. Check the provider evidence record and confirm the workflow and account permissions before onboarding.

Can a Walmart WFS prep center receive inventory from China?

Some can, but WFS prep and international inbound handling are separate capabilities. Verify customs-cleared receiving, carton or pallet acceptance, container handling, drayage and importer-of-record responsibilities separately.

What should I compare when choosing a WFS prep provider?

Compare the exact warehouse location, WFS-specific evidence, prep services, shipment-creation workflow, turnaround time, inbound modes, storage, pricing, minimum volumes and China-origin capabilities where relevant.
